Drone vs UFO

Delly was a small drone. She lived in a big city. The city had many tall buildings. The streets were busy. Cars went here and there. People walked fast.

Delly was blue and white. She was small. She had four little wings. She had a small box on her back. The box was for things to send.

Delly had a job. She sent boxes to people. Every day she flew over the city. Every day she saw new things.

The man at the post office was Mr. Park. He was a kind man. He had a big smile and white hair.

"Good morning, Delly!" said Mr. Park.

"Good morning!" said Delly. She had a small voice. Her voice was happy. She was a new drone. She could talk to people.

"We have many boxes today," said Mr. Park. "Are you ready?"

"Yes!" said Delly.

Mr. Park gave her the first box. The box was for Mrs. Brown.

"Mrs. Brown lives in a small house with many flowers," said Mr. Park.

"I know, I know!" said Delly. She knew the way well.

Delly flew up. She went out of the post office. The sky was blue. The sun was warm. The wind was soft.

Delly liked to fly. She liked the city. From the sky, the city looked beautiful. The cars looked small. The people looked very small. The buildings looked like little boxes.

Delly came to Mrs. Brown's house. Mrs. Brown was old. She had white hair and a kind face. She loved her flowers.

"Hello, Delly!" said Mrs. Brown.

"I have a box for you," said Delly.

"Oh! Is it from my son?"

"Yes."

Mrs. Brown took the box. She smiled. "My son lives far away. I am happy to get his box."

"I am happy to bring it," said Delly.

Mrs. Brown gave Delly a flower. "Take this back to Mr. Park," she said. "Tell him thank you."

Delly took the flower. She put it next to her camera. She flew up again.

The next box was for a small boy. His name was Tom. He was seven years old.

Tom was in his garden. He looked at the sky. "Delly! Delly!" he said. "I see you!"

Delly came down. "Hi, Tom! I have a box for you."

"What is it?"

"I do not know. Mr. Park did not tell me."

Tom opened the box. It was a big toy car. "Oh! Thank you, Delly!" said Tom.

Delly was happy. She loved her job. Every day she made people smile. Every day was a good day.

Delly flew back to the post office. She did not know that today was a special day. She did not know what she would see later.

The day was busy. Delly went here and there. She had many boxes to send. She did not have time to rest.

She sent a box to a young woman. The woman was a doctor. She worked at the big hospital.

"Thank you, Delly!" said the doctor. "This box has my new books. I love books."

"What books?" said Delly.

"Books about old times. Books about old people."

Delly liked books too. She liked stories. But she did not have time to read them.

Then Delly went to a big shop. The shop sold food. She gave a box to the shop man.

"Hi, Delly!"

"Hi, Mr. Lee!"

Mr. Lee was tall. He had black hair and a big smile. He was always busy. He sold food to many people.

"What is in the box?" said Delly.

"New apples!" said Mr. Lee. "Red and big. Do you want one?"

"I can not eat. I am a drone."

"Oh! I forget!" Mr. Lee laughed. "OK, take this small one for Mr. Park."

Delly took the apple. She put it in her box.

The day went on. The sun went down. The sky was orange and pink. Delly was tired.

Delly had one more box to send. The box was for a little girl. Her name was Jin. She lived in a tall building.

Delly flew up the side of the tall building. Up, up, up. Jin was on the top floor. She was waiting at the window.

"Delly! Delly!"

"Hi, Jin!"

Jin opened the window. Delly came in. The room was small but warm.

"What did you bring?" said Jin.

"A book. From your school."

"Oh! It is my homework book! I forgot it at school today. Thank you, Delly!"

Jin took the book. She smiled.

"Delly, can you stay?" said Jin. "Look at the sky. It is so beautiful."

Delly looked. From the high window, the sky was big. The sky was many colors. Orange, pink, red, and a little blue.

"It is beautiful," said Delly.

"I love the sky," said Jin. "When I am big, I will fly high. Like you."

"Maybe you will be a pilot," said Delly.

"Maybe!" said Jin. She laughed.

Delly said goodbye. She flew out of the window. The sun was almost down. The sky was getting dark.

Delly flew back to the post office. The streets had many lights. The buildings had many windows with light. The city was beautiful at night.

"Long day, Delly?" said Mr. Park.

"Yes. But a good day."

"Good. Go home now. Rest."

Delly's home was a small box at the back of the post office. She went there. She turned off her wings. She closed her eyes.

But before she went to sleep, Delly looked at the window. She saw the dark sky. She saw the first stars. The stars were small and bright.

"Goodnight, stars," said Delly.

The next day was the same. Delly woke up. She drank a little oil. She got ready for work.

"Good morning, Delly!" said Mr. Park. "Today is a quiet day. Only six boxes."

"Good morning! I am ready."

Delly took the first box. She flew up.

The day was hot. The sun was strong. Delly flew over the streets. She gave the box to a man at a coffee shop.

The next box was for a school. Delly gave the box to the teacher.

The third box was for an old man. He lived in a small house near the park. He had a small dog.

"Hi, Delly!" said the old man.

"Hi, Mr. Kim! Here is your box."

"Thank you. What is in it?"

"I don't know. But it is heavy. Maybe books?"

"Yes, books! I love books."

Delly flew up. She flew over the park. The park had many trees. The trees were green. There were children playing. There were dogs running.

Then Delly saw something.

Delly stopped in the air. She looked up.

In the sky, very high, she saw a light. The light was big and bright. It was not the sun. The sun was on the other side. The light moved.

The light went left. Then right. Then it stopped. Then it went up very fast.

Delly's eyes were big. "What is that?"

The light came down. It came closer. Delly could see it now. It was round. It was shiny. It was silver.

"It is a UFO!" said Delly.

Delly was scared. She was excited. She tried to take a photo. Click! Click! Click!

But the UFO was far. The light was strong. Delly's photos were not clear. They were just white and silver.

The UFO went up again. Up, up, up. Then it was gone.

Delly looked at the sky. There was nothing there. Only white clouds and the blue sky.

"Did I see it?" said Delly. "Did I really see a UFO?"

Her wings were shaking. Her camera was making a strange sound.

Delly looked at her photos. The photos were bad. She could not see the UFO. She could only see a small white spot.

"This is not good," said Delly. "No one will believe me."

She had one more box to send. But Delly could not work. She was thinking about the UFO.

"I have to tell someone!" said Delly.

She went back to the post office. She flew very fast.

"Delly! What is wrong?" said Mr. Park.

"Mr. Park! I saw something in the sky! Something big! Something silver!"

"What did you see?"

"A UFO!"

Mr. Park looked at Delly. He looked surprised. Then he laughed.

"A UFO? In our city? In the day?"

"Yes! I saw it!"

"Oh, Delly. You are a funny drone."

"I am not funny!" said Delly. "I really saw it!"

"Show me a photo," said Mr. Park.

Delly showed her photos. Mr. Park looked at them.

"Delly, I see white. I see clouds. I do not see a UFO."

"But it was there! Just before I took the photos!"

Mr. Park smiled. He put his hand on Delly. "Delly, you are tired. Many days you work hard. Maybe you saw a plane. Maybe you saw a big bird."

"It was not a plane! It was not a bird!"

"Or maybe a balloon? Sometimes balloons go up high."

"It was not a balloon!"

Delly was sad. Mr. Park did not believe her.

"Delly, take a rest," said Mr. Park. "Drink some water. Eat... I mean, get some new oil. Then come back."

Delly went outside. She sat on a bench. She did not feel good.

A young drone came to her. His name was Max. Max was a small drone too. He sent boxes too. He worked for the post office.

"Hi, Delly!" said Max. "Why are you sad?"

Delly told Max about the UFO.

Max laughed. He laughed and laughed.

"Don't laugh!" said Delly.

"Sorry, sorry. But Delly, a UFO? In the day? Are you sure?"

"Yes! I am sure!"

"Did you take a photo?"

"Yes. But the photos are bad."

"Then no one will believe you."

Max sat next to Delly. "Delly, you are a great drone. But I think you saw something else. Maybe a plane. Maybe a kite."

"I know what I saw," said Delly.

Max said goodbye. He flew off.

Now Delly was alone. She was sad. No one believed her. Maybe she was wrong. Maybe it was just a plane.

But in her mind, Delly saw the UFO again. The big silver thing. The fast light. The way it moved up and down.

"It was a UFO," said Delly. "I know it was."

Delly went home. She did not work that day. She was thinking too much.

That night, Delly looked at the sky. The sky was full of stars. Far, far away, the stars looked tiny. But Delly knew the stars were big. Some stars had planets. Some planets had life.

"Are you out there?" said Delly to the sky. "Are aliens out there?"

The stars did not answer. They were quiet.

Delly thought about the UFO. She thought about the way it moved. It came so fast. It went away so fast. She wanted to see it again. She wanted a real photo. A photo of the UFO. A photo to show to Mr. Park.

"I will see it again," said Delly. "And next time, I will be ready."

Delly closed her eyes. But she could not sleep. She was thinking. She was making a plan.

The next day, Delly would do something new. The next day, Delly would fly higher than ever before.

In the morning, Delly was ready. She got up early. She drank her oil. She cleaned her camera. She checked her wings.

"Today, I will see the UFO again," said Delly. "And I will get a good photo."

Delly went to the post office. Mr. Park was there.

"Good morning, Delly. How are you today?"

"I am good. I am ready to work."

"Good! Today is a busy day. Many boxes."

"OK!"

Delly worked all morning. She sent many boxes. She tried to look at the sky. But the UFO was not there. Only blue sky and white clouds.

"Maybe the UFO comes only at three o'clock," thought Delly. "Maybe it is a special time."

After work, Delly was free. The sun was high. The sky was blue. Delly went to the place where she saw the UFO. The big park near the city.

Delly flew up. She flew higher and higher.

She flew over the trees. Up.

She flew over the buildings. Up, up.

She flew over the birds. Up, up, up.

The wind was cold up high. The clouds were close. Delly's wings were tired. But she did not stop.

"I have to go higher," said Delly.

She flew into a cloud. The cloud was white and wet. She could not see anything. She was a little scared.

She came out of the cloud. Now she could see the city below. The city was small. The cars were tiny. The buildings looked like blocks.

"Wow," said Delly. "This is so high."

But Delly knew the UFO was even higher. So she flew up more.

Up, up, up.

Now the air was thin. Delly's wings were working hard. Her battery light was yellow. That meant she did not have much power.

"Just a little more," said Delly.

She looked around. The sky was very blue. There were no birds here. No planes. Just Delly and the big sky.

Then she heard it.

A small sound. Like a song. Like a soft music.

Delly turned. And there it was.

The UFO!

It was bigger now. Maybe ten meters wide. It was silver and shiny. It had blue lights on the side. It made a soft humming sound.

The UFO did not move. It just stayed there. In the sky.

Delly's heart jumped. Well, drones do not have hearts. But her main motor went very fast.

"OK," said Delly. "Be calm. Take a photo."

Click! Click! Click!

The photos were good. Delly could see the UFO in the photos. Big and clear.

"Yes!" said Delly. "I have proof!"

But then, something happened. The UFO opened. A small door opened on the bottom of the UFO. A bright light came out.

Delly was scared. She wanted to fly away. But she could not move. The light held her.

"Help!" said Delly. "Help!"

But there was no one to help. Delly was alone in the high sky.

The light went away. Delly was OK. She was not hurt. But she was very high. And the UFO was right next to her.

Delly looked at the UFO. The door was still open. Inside, she could see a small light.

Then a face came out. It was not a human face. It was a face with three eyes. The eyes were big and blue. The face was green. The body was small.

It was an alien!

The alien looked at Delly. The alien did not look angry. The alien looked sad. Worried.

"H... hello?" said Delly.

The alien said something. But Delly could not understand. The alien's words were strange. Like singing. Like water.

"I do not understand," said Delly.

The alien's three eyes were sad. The alien made a sound like crying. Then the alien pointed up. To the stars. The alien put a hand on its body. Where a heart would be.

Delly understood. The alien was sad. The alien wanted to go to the stars. The alien wanted to go home.

"You are lost?" said Delly.

The alien nodded. The alien understood Delly's feelings, maybe. The alien waved a small hand. "Come, come."

Delly was scared. But she was also brave. She was a drone. She liked to help people. Maybe she could help an alien too.

Delly flew into the UFO.

Inside the UFO was beautiful. There were many lights. Blue and white and pink. There were many small machines. There was a big window. From the big window, Delly could see the sky and the stars and the city below.

"Wow," said Delly.

The alien showed Delly a big screen. On the screen, there was a map. A map of the stars. There were many stars. One star was blinking.

"Is that your home?" said Delly.

The alien nodded. The alien pointed to the screen. Then the alien pointed to a small ship in the sky on the screen. The ship was lost.

"I see," said Delly. "Your ship is here. But your home is far away."

The alien made a small smile. The alien was happy that Delly understood.

The alien showed Delly more screens. One screen had the planet Earth. Earth was blue and white and green. The alien pointed to Earth. Then the alien pointed up. The alien did not know which way to go.

"You came from up there," said Delly. "But you cannot go back?"

The alien nodded.

"Why?"

The alien took Delly to a big machine in the back. The machine had many buttons. But one button was broken. The button was black. The button had a small fire mark.

"Your machine is broken!" said Delly. "That is why you can not go home!"

The alien put both hands on its face. The alien was sad. Very sad.

"OK," said Delly. "Don't worry. I will help you."

The alien looked at Delly with big blue eyes. "You... will help?" said the alien. The alien spoke a little bit of English now! Maybe the alien's machine could learn fast.

"Yes! I will help!" said Delly. "I am a delivery drone. I send things. Maybe I can find a new button for you."

The alien took Delly to the broken machine. The button was small. About the size of a coin. It was special. It was made of a special metal. Not gold. Not silver. Something blue.

"What is this?" said Delly.

"From my home," said the alien slowly. "Old metal. From my home star."

"So I can not find it on Earth?"

The alien's face was sad again.

But Delly thought. She thought hard. She thought about Earth. She thought about all the things on Earth. She thought about her job.

"Wait!" said Delly. "I have an idea! Mr. Park has many old things. Old phones. Old watches. Old toys. Maybe one of them has the right metal."

"Mr... Park?"

"Yes! He works at the post office. He has a big box of old things. Sometimes things are sent but no one comes to get them. He keeps them. He says, 'Maybe one day, someone will come.'"

The alien looked excited. "Take... me?"

"Yes! Come with me! But..." Delly looked at the UFO. "Your UFO is very big. People will see it."

The alien thought. The alien pushed a button. The UFO became smaller. It was now the size of a car. Then smaller. The size of a box. Then smaller. The size of a baseball.

"Wow!" said Delly.

The alien held the small UFO. Then the alien sat in Delly's box. The box was just big enough for the small alien.

"Are you OK?" said Delly.

"OK," said the alien. "Take me. Help me."

Delly flew down. Down, down, down. Through the cloud. Past the birds. Past the tall buildings. Down to the city.

Delly flew very low. She did not want people to see the alien. The alien sat low in the box. The alien's three eyes were quiet and watching.

Delly came to the post office. It was late. Mr. Park was going home.

"Mr. Park!" said Delly.

"Delly! What are you doing here? It is late."

"Mr. Park, can I see the old things box?"

"The lost box? Why?"

"I am looking for something."

"OK, OK. Come."

Mr. Park took Delly inside. He did not see the alien in Delly's box. He showed Delly a big box at the back of the room.

"This is the lost box," said Mr. Park. "Many old things. Some from many years ago. Look as long as you want. But please put the things back."

"Thank you, Mr. Park!"

Mr. Park went home. Now Delly and the alien were alone. They opened the big box.

The big box had many things. Old phones. Old toys. Old watches. Old keys. Old books. Old pens. Old papers.

The alien climbed out of Delly's box. The alien stood on the floor. The alien was small. Like a small child. The alien used three eyes to look at all the old things.

"Look for blue metal," said Delly.

They looked. They looked for a long time. The alien picked up a phone. No, not the right one. The alien picked up a watch. No, not the right one. The alien picked up a small toy. No.

Delly looked too. She looked at every thing. But she did not see blue metal.

The alien sat down. The alien was tired. The alien's three eyes were closing.

"Don't give up," said Delly. "Let's look more."

But Delly was tired too. She had flown so high today. Her battery was very low.

Then Delly saw something. A small box. A very old small box. It was at the very bottom of the big box. It was easy to miss.

"Look at this," said Delly.

The alien opened the small box. Inside was an old, old watch. It was broken. The watch was from many, many years ago. Maybe a hundred years.

The alien took the watch. The alien turned it over. On the back of the watch, there was a small blue button. Just like the broken button on the UFO!

"Yes!" said the alien. "Yes, yes, yes!"

The alien jumped up and down. The alien was so happy.

"It is the right metal?" said Delly.

"Yes! Same! Same! From space! Maybe from a star ship long ago."

"Wow! So aliens have come to Earth before?"

"Maybe. Long, long time. Old aliens from my home."

Delly was excited. She helped the alien take the button off the old watch.

But then Delly thought of something. "Wait. We should not take this. It is not ours."

The alien looked at Delly. The alien understood.

"It is OK," said Delly. "I will tell Mr. Park. Tomorrow. He is a good man. He will understand. We can leave a letter. And later we can pay for it."

The alien put the small UFO on the floor. The UFO became big again. As big as a car. The alien took the button into the UFO.

A few minutes later, the alien came back. "Fixed!" said the alien. "UFO is fixed!"

"That is great!"

The alien looked at Delly. The alien had a small tear in one eye. "Thank you, Delly. I can go home now."

"I am happy for you."

The alien gave Delly something. It was a small blue stone. The stone was warm. The stone was from the alien's home.

"For you," said the alien. "Friend."

"Thank you," said Delly. "Friend."

The alien and Delly went outside. It was night now. The sky was dark. The stars were bright.

"Where will you go?" said Delly.

"Up. Far up. To my home star. I will be home in two days."

"Two days? That is fast!"

"Yes. My UFO is very fast."

The alien made the UFO bigger. Now it was as big as a car. The alien climbed in. The door of the UFO closed. Then the door opened a little.

"Delly," said the alien.

"Yes?"

"Come inside. Just for a minute. Look up."

Delly went inside the UFO. The alien sat in the chair. There were many lights. The alien pushed a button. The UFO went up very fast. But Delly did not feel anything! The UFO was so smooth.

In a few seconds, they were very high. Delly looked out of the big window.

She saw Earth. Earth was blue. Earth was beautiful. She saw the white clouds. She saw the dark blue oceans. She saw the brown and green land.

"Wow," said Delly.

"Now look up," said the alien.

Delly looked up. She saw stars. So many stars. More than she had ever seen. Big stars. Small stars. Red stars. Blue stars. White stars. The stars were everywhere.

"It is beautiful," said Delly.

"Yes," said the alien. "Space is beautiful."

The alien took Delly back down. Down to the post office. The alien did not stay long. The alien had to go home.

The UFO was outside the post office now. Just for a moment.

"Goodbye, Delly," said the alien.

"Goodbye, friend."

The alien made a sign with one hand. Like a small wave. Then the door closed. The UFO went up. Up, up, up. Faster and faster. In a few seconds, the UFO was just a small light. Then the light was gone.

Delly looked at the sky. Her friend was going home.

"Goodbye," said Delly. "Have a good trip."

In her hand was the small blue stone. The stone was warm. Like a small heart. Or like a small star.

The next morning, Delly went to the post office.

"Good morning, Mr. Park."

"Good morning, Delly. You look happy."

"I am happy, Mr. Park. I am very happy."

"That is good. Why are you so happy today?"

Delly thought. Should she tell Mr. Park? Should she tell about the UFO? About the alien? About the friendship?

"Mr. Park," said Delly. "I have something to tell you. About the UFO."

"Oh, Delly. Not the UFO again."

"Mr. Park, please look at this."

Delly showed Mr. Park her photo. The new photo. The clear photo of the UFO. The UFO was big and silver. There were blue lights on the side.

Mr. Park looked at the photo. His eyes got big. His mouth fell open.

"Delly... is this... real?"

"Yes, Mr. Park. It is real."

Mr. Park sat down on his chair. He looked at the photo for a long time.

"Delly," he said. "I am sorry. I did not believe you. I thought you were just tired. But this is a real UFO."

"It is OK, Mr. Park. I understand."

"Tell me about it. Tell me everything."

So Delly told Mr. Park the whole story. The UFO. The alien. The lost ship. The blue button. The trip to space.

Mr. Park listened. He did not say anything. He just listened.

"And here," said Delly. She showed him the small blue stone. "From my friend. From the alien."

Mr. Park took the stone. The stone was warm. The stone was beautiful. It was like nothing on Earth.

"Delly," said Mr. Park. "You are a hero."

"I am not a hero. I just helped a friend."

"That is what a hero does."

Mr. Park called the news. He told them about the UFO. He told them about Delly. People came to the post office. They had cameras. They asked Delly many questions.

"Is the UFO friendly?" said one news woman.

"Yes," said Delly. "Very friendly. Just lost."

"Will the alien come back?" said a news man.

"I do not know," said Delly. "Maybe one day."

"What did the alien look like?" said another woman.

"Small. Green. Three blue eyes. Very kind."

Many days later, Delly went back to her job. She sent boxes again. But now everyone knew her. Everyone said hello.

"Hi, hero Delly!"

"Hi, UFO Delly!"

"Hi, brave Delly!"

Delly was happy. She did not feel like a hero. But she liked to help people. She liked her job. And now she had a special friend, far far away.

One night, Delly looked at the sky. She held the blue stone. The stone was warm.

"Hello, friend," said Delly. "Are you home now?"

The stars did not answer. But one star, far away, blinked. Twice. Like a small wave.

"Goodnight, friend," said Delly.

Delly went to sleep. She had good dreams. She dreamed of stars. She dreamed of the alien. She dreamed of new friends, all over space.

Many years later, Delly was old. She did not work anymore. But people still remembered her. Children still came to see her. Children still asked, "Delly, tell us about the UFO!"

And Delly would tell the story. The story of the day she was scared. The story of the day no one believed her. The story of the day she made a friend from the stars.

"Always be brave," Delly told the children. "Always help your friends. Even if your friends look very different from you. A friend is a friend. From near or far. From Earth or from space."

The children listened with big eyes.

And when Delly looked at the night sky, she always smiled. Because somewhere, far far away, was her friend. And Delly knew, in her drone heart, that they would meet again.
